The Property Accountant is tasked with delivering financial and management services for a designated portfolio of properties and Dexus. The role is designed to foster strong working relationships with Dexus representatives, requiring frequent meetings with Dexus and CBRE Facilities Management team members. The accountant is expected to ensure timely completion of all reporting requirements and prompt resolution of any arising issues.

The role demands superior client service skills, strong attention to detail, and exceptional organizational capabilities. The Property Accountant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances. The accountant is also encouraged to contribute to team discussions and initiatives, particularly in identifying opportunities for process and system improvements.

The role:

  • Preparation of monthly pack including trial balance with commentary of P&L items against budget and/or forecast and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts in an agreed format Accurately present monthly financials to the clients

  • Prepare and process cash and accrual related journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts

  • Complete outgoings reconciliations for review and approval by Dexus and finalise wash up balances

  • Liaise with and provide support and guidance to Property Managers and other internal stakeholders in relation to the financial and management reporting requirements

  • Effectively manage key internal and external relationships

  • Exceed client expectations by adhering to requests in an efficient and timely manner.

About you:

  • At least 3-4 + years’ experience in a similar role

  • Experience in a property and finance related field with experience relating directly to property financials highly advantageous

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Finance or related field; a CPA/CA OR equivalent preferred

  • Intermediate level in core Microsoft packages – particularly Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to liaise with Dexus, their tenants and colleagues including reports and documentation

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage workflow and priorities and meet deadlines for several client contacts

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and accept instructions from manager and/or client

  • Customer service focus and performance outcome orientation with all colleagues and Dexus at all levels

  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
