About The Role:

As a CBRE Union Helper, you will perform non-technical general building maintenance, light custodial, and minor repair duties.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. The position of Helper is designed to be a step on the path to becoming an engineer and is not available to newly hired helpers on a “career” basis.

What You'll Do:

Perform general building maintenance under close supervision.

Perform custodial duties, maintenance, and minor maintenance and repair work that includes HVAC, plumbing and electric.

Perform general labor work as assigned by the engineers.

Perform interior painting to include experience with all types of paint, matching paint type to proper application, surface preparation, including wood, metal and drywall and concrete floors.

Respond quickly to emergency situations and customer service requests as assigned.

Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits.

Ability to use technology such as; smart phones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc.

Complete all required CBRE/Brookfield Safety Training as scheduled.

Comply with CBRE/Brookfield Uniform Dress Code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property.

May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); will require open shift coverage and/or stand-by or on-call duties.

24/7/365 operation requiring working weekends and holidays as scheduled

Perform general labor work as assigned including loading, unloading, and moving materials.

Identify and report maintenance hazards or other property condition concerns. Run errands to support projects.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college program or technical school.

  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to develop skills to perform basic activities in own job.

  • Achieve required New York City Fire Department Certificates of Fitness as determined by the building Chief Engineer.

The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union Helper position is $80,912 annually [or $38.90 per hour]. Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
