About the role

The Data Governance Director is a key leader in our Data Governance Office (DGO) whose efforts support our mission to unlock value through data. The Data Governance Director will guide the maturity growth of our Data Governance Program and expand impact of our DGO Center of Excellence.

In this position, you will collaborate globally across business units to deliver recommendations that propel business data management effectiveness while advancing data governance capabilities. You will manage and mentor a team of Data Governance Officers to extend the team’s influence and impact. You will oversee data domain councils, to enforce integration of data governance policies, standards, and frameworks - reporting insights and trends to executive sponsors. You will serve as a player-coach that oversees the mapping and modelling of business processes and procedures with an eye for data flow generation and maintenance. Insights the team uncovers contribute to the immediate enrichment of IM’s data IP (Data Catalog, Business Glossary, Reference Data, Data Quality) which facilitates the discovery, comprehension, availability, and trust of data.

What you will do

  • Apply your relationship building skills to cultivate a firm-wide atmosphere of data stewardship - advancing data literacy and driving data governance adoption.

  • Implement readiness assessments to canvas current performance and effectiveness, culture, and capacity to adopt change – reporting on gap to target state, impediments to growth, and recommend uplifts necessary for change adoption.

  • Leverage your proven experience breaking down barriers and silos, to identify & accelerate strategic opportunities across data domains.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to domain data councils & senior leadership - ensuring data governance frameworks are embedded, and data-driven project prioritization is instituted.

  • Direct root cause analysis of critical data concerns - producing and deploying remediation action plans based on risk reduction and value creation.

  • Expand impact of DGO Center of Excellence through development & deployment of communication strategy that increases awareness and use of DGO collateral.

  • Evaluate data governance program effectiveness & currency based on team performance statistics, program metrics, and organization-wide feedback.

  • Manage and mature a team of Data Governance Officers, by providing professional development opportunities that reinforce commitment to excellence.

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, sophisticated education within Data, Finance, Law, Organizational Development & Change Management, or Technology

  • Hold current industry standard certifications (CDMP, OSCRE, DCAM)

  • Have 8-10 years of dynamic experience, with 5 years focused on supervising and managing data management or governance projects within real estate, or financial service industries

  • Very precise and detailed, with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven project management experience overseeing planning, execution, and retrospectives

  • Be a great teammate able to work in a matrixed, global environment

  • Previous experience with tools such as Informatica for purposes of data management, data catalog, data quality, data profiling, business glossary, metadata management, data lineage, data regulations and privacy, and/or master data management

  • Demonstrated experience using tools to query, profile, analyze and report such as SQL, Power query & Power BI, advanced Excel, or Python

CBRE Investment Management carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $165,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $175,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE IM’s applicable benefit program.
