About the role
Performs shipping/receiving duties for all equipment sent into the lab for calibration and returns calibrated equipment to customers. This role is a client facing position and is in constant contact with customers and vendors.
Located in Zebulon, NC
What you’ll do
Performs shipping/receiving duties for all items being sent into the lab for calibration and returns calibrated equipment to customers.
Closes work orders for completed calibrations performed by technicians. Forwards closed orders to accounting department for invoicing and assists with collection efforts as needed.
Prepares cost estimates for in lab and on-site calibrations for customers.
Inputs received equipment into the database in preparation for calibration.
Ensures that customers equipment is calibrated and returned in accordance with terms of the customer.
Responds to customer inquiries using all methods of communication. May include but not limited to cost estimates and updates of current status for work orders in the lab.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associates Degree in scientific field of study preferred or equivalent related work experience. Minimum of two years of related experience and/or training.
Communication skills
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
Financial knowledge
Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Reasoning ability
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Intermediate skills with Desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Suite and Online Help.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor with a strong, professional customer service orientation.
Scope of responsibility
Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
